Could Surrey Flood Like Abbotsford?

Abbotsford BC has experienced devastating flooding in recent weeks due to unprecedented rainfall in the region, causing the Nooksack River in Washington to breach its banks flooding north into Canada and putting uncontrollable strain on Abbotsford’s dyke system. With climate change, rising sea levels and the expectation of more frequent storm surges & flooding incidents in the future, is there a potential for similar types of flooding to occur at some point in Surrey BC?

In this month’s Surrey Report, Surrey Real Estate Specialist Steve Karrasch of Macdonald Realty, takes a detailed look at the various flood plains and flood zones identified within the City of Surrey, providing some context and information to consider when you are looking to move or purchase your next home in the area.
